My own journey to finding a healthy lifestyle has given me insight into the many challenges one encounters. Several years ago I was eating the healthiest I ever have. Balanced fiber-filled meals which included fresh vegetables, fruits, yogurt, whole grains such as kamut and wheat berries. No added sugars and no processed or refined foods. Except for those darn tortilla chips I just can’t resist… I only indulged occasionally. But I was always feeling fatigued and constantly getting cold sores which, I attributed to work related stress. I was also always bloated but figured it was just the extra fiber in my diet. No matter what I tried vitamins, extra caffeine, sleeping in, I could not shake the constant fatigue. Then in 2016 I read a new book that was written by a gastroenterologist that was eye opening for me. I immediately made an appointment to see a gastroenterologist. I was shocked to hear I had pre-diabetes, a small bowel infection (SIBO), an ulcer and I was told to look up FODMAP when I questioned why am I feeling so bad while eating so healthy. The doctor provided medication for the SIBO and ulcer but no guidance on FODMAP or prediabetes so I asked for a referral to a nutritionist. The nutritionist was perplexed since my weight and dietary habits were pretty healthy and suggested it was genetic since I have a family history of diabetes. I couldn’t just accept that this was happening to me and persisted, requesting additional visits with the nutritionist, to get to the bottom of it. It turned out I was frequently eating too much fruit when healthy options were not available while traveling. Too much of a good thing is real! I was also eating late and crashing on the couch which was terrible for so many reasons. I learned a great deal about when to eat and how to eat and became more mindful about planning ahead. I was able to eliminate all my health issues but it was quite an educational journey!
My training and experience allows me to guide you in making healthier choices. My client success stories reflect my ability to help clients improve their health and achieve a higher level of life satisfaction.
My personal experience and passion for health along with my training enable me to bring a high level of empathy, respect, and understanding to my coaching practice.
